Who are you ?
The « Distillerie d’Indochine » is a beach distillery located south of Hoi An, Quang Nam province, Vietnam. Home of Sampan, tropical and premium agricole rhum. We work closely with local farmers to cultivate and harvest the best local variety sugar cane in order to produce natural premium rhum. Controlled fermentation, Armagnac column distillation, Cognac french oak aging, our vision is to work respectfully with the environment and try to express through our rhum the great terroir of Vietnam the most naturally possible. Our situation, 30 meters from the beach, allowed us to welcome tourists in a great spot and organize distillery tour and chill on our garden with a Mojito from the tasting bar and shop. Can you tell us a few words on the brands you are presenting in Paris ?
Created in 2018 « Sampan Rhum » is a result of 2 years of reflection from spot location, production process, cane sugar selection and distillery building from A to Z. A sampan is a typical cabotage boat from south east Asia allowing the interior land to be connected to the world exchange. The origin of the word sampan is closely link the journey of great navigators in XVIe century from Caraïbes to asia, same navigators who bring sugar cane from Asia to Caraïbes. For us choosing « sampan » as a brand name is a tribute of this rhum connection between Asia and Caraïbes.
Our 2018 first batch was distilled between August and october and bottled in march 2019. We propose 3 white agricole rhum one classic at 45%, one overproof at 54% and one foolproof at 65%. We have also developed Sampan Spiced rhum 40%. minimum 6 month aged Sampan rhum in Cognac oak barrel, blend with local spices infused in our rhum during 4 months and a touch of hydromel made out of Mint honey from the mountain in north Vietnam. Later this year we will release a Amber rhum 45% with minimum 8 months aging in Cognac barrels.
Why having choosen Rhum Fest Paris to exhibit ?
We are officially open to public from the 31st of March 2019, for us it was a great timing to participe to this great show in order to present our rhum to the European market. Rhum fest Paris is a great platform to present our product to professional of the sector and being a part of the development of the Asia category.
